Millions of computers running on a billion lines of code does sound fancy because it makes our life easier by doing the tasks which could take a long time and resources to get the work done. In short sighted idea it would not seem a big of a problem if your project got deleted somehow you may not notice it just because it was a small task to accomplish but consider a scientist working for a decade on a research or idea and somehow it got deleted or stolen or the data in in project got changed, it would be a disaster considering the work and time he put into it. Even if a harm or felony done on a small scale is harmful and indictable which should not be taken lightly. And all the activities like deleting a project, stealing data, copying data without consent, fraud, cyber extortion, etc are termed as cyber crime. There are many ways for a hacker to commit a crime without leaving a trace behind. This is known as anti-forensics and is often used by hackers accessing your computer to obstruct forensic analysis. And this has become a big problem for countries and software developing companies to tackle. According to IC3, which is the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center, there have been more than 2.7 million complaints of scam from 2017-2021 creating a loss of around 18.7 billion dollars. These kind of activities are not only creating individual losses but also leading to global economic losses of £3.89 trillion in year 2009, with losses rising by 56% in the past decade. Looking at these statistics is overwhelming considering the damages it has done on both individual and global level. Due to which countries have taken measures to tackle this problem efficiently by starting crime branches to investigate the reports and develop ways to solve this problem. Software companies have also been developing different software and measures to avoid the problem of getting hacked. In India, the central government of India also rolled out a scheme for establishment of Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) to handle issues related to cybercrime in the country in a comprehensive and coordinated manner. Although cyber crimes are increasing day by day, the most efficient way to deal with this problem individually would be to follow the security measures as things stolen from the system are not any form of object always which can be recovered. It is many times information which is knowledge and can be passed in many different forms without a trace. Therefore following the measures would be the key in this era with the old idea of ‘Prevention is better than cure’, especially when the cure is not available.
